A new blog!

It's a new year and I decided to start a new blog. I'm not abandoning this one; in fact I will continue to post pictures and general things about my life here. But I chose to make a new blog that will focus on my genealogical research. If you're interested, you can find it at cherokeealex.wordpress.com. It will be only about genealogy, so keep reading this one if you'd rather hear me complain about school and post pictures of my cats.

Programming Note the Deuce

I'm moving to Ames this weekend! And, I need to pack my whole life right now. Which means that as of today, my desktop computer will be packed up. I still have my netbook, but my internet time will be restricted for the next week or so. Hopefully I will have internet soon when I move. My apartment has internet as an included utility. It's awesome not to pay extra for it, but I have no idea how setting it up works. I may just be able to plug in my cable modem and get on the internet, or it might be more complicated. I have no clue.

Programming Note

This is just a quick placeholder/reminder for me. Once I get home, I'll do a real series of entries on my Up North vacation. I'd like to get home and get my photos in order so I can put some of them up here so everyone can see what I'm talking about when I say this is the most beautiful place on Earth. I might be interrupted by my quick trip to the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, but maybe not if I'm really on top of my shit.

Change in Blog

So I decided to make this my sole blog and do both photo posts and 'normal' posts for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I don't take enough photos to really fulfill the original purpose of this blog, which was to post loads of photographs. Secondly, I'd like a space on the internet to discuss topics that aren't necessarily of importance to any of my friends, and this avoids me spamming people on facebook or other sites.
Mostly I'll talk about my job, my research, my writing, and random things like video games or books. I'll still post pictures too, when I have some to upload. I'm hoping to avoid this becoming an angry ranty blog about everything stupid in my life or anything too adult content(although I've got a bit of a mouth and the occasional *swear* might slip out). Anyway, that's the plan. We'll see how it goes.

Slight Hiatus

I'm on a slight hiatus until I find my memory stick. My laptop is the only computer I have that's internet capable at the moment, since my desktop doesn't have a wireless card. While I'm waiting for a USB wireless adapter, my pictures are sitting on my desktop. When I find my memory stick I'll bring them over to the laptop and post them. Hopefully that will be soon but I'm not positive.
