This blog used to be called Grad School and Gardening, because I was in grad school and like to garden. Now I have a real job! So now this blog is mostly about gardening, but also my life, my cats, and occasionally science.
While finishing up in DC we also visited the Lincoln Memorial. The last time I went to the Memorial I couldn't get up close as I was in a wheelchair and the handicapped elevator entrance was broken. This time, however, I was fine. So here's Mr . Lincoln. He's a bit blurry, which stinks because he looked quite clear on the camera screen. And this is the inscription above his head, which came out much better.
The next few posts will be pictures from my last few days in Washington DC. Hopefully in a week or so I'll have some Michigan pictures to share, although they will probably be mostly of my room. To start, this is a picture of my uncle Ron Sheffield's name on the National Law Enforcement Memorial at Judiciary Square. The memorial honors fallen federal police officers. My uncle was killed ten days after 9/11 by a crazed lunatic in Detroit while he was doing his job. I felt it was very important for me to visit the memorial before I left DC.
